Ohm’s Law is named after the German physicist Georg Ohm. In 1827 he published findings from his work from 1825 to 1826. However, 44 years earlier, in 1781, Henry Cavendish wrote that voltage in his experiments, was directly proportional to the current (at that time, called velocity). How did he quantify voltage??

By the degree of electrification he felt when he completed the circuit! Perhaps this 'hands on' method of measurement could be re-introduced to our teaching curricula?
